Reflections on the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

The Scorpio New Moon Lunar Eclipse on November 8th, 2022 had a strong emotional effect on many people, and I want to explore the reasons why. Personally, I noticed that it had me grappling with repressed emotions that literally hit out of nowhere. In fact, I felt so many repressed emotions come to the surface, that at one point, I could not deny them any longer, and I erupted like a volcano! It was then I realized how much I had been holding inside me and how strongly I really felt.

Whenever the moon is full, it is always a time that we feel things with more intensity. This is because the full moon literally "brings out" whatever emotional states we have been hiding within. From feelings of love and bliss expressed to a romantic partner to feelings of rage and resentment from a lack of healthy boundaries, no one gets out of the heightened emotional states that the full moon brings. Now combine the increased awareness of your feelings with the intensity and focus of a Scorpio, and you have a strong drive to express yourself - in one way or the other. We literally cannot hide from our emotions at this time. The Scorpio full moon asks us to do some major self-analysis, to seek out a trusted therapist or friend and get some objective advice. We really need another pair of eyes on us now because we can only see through the lens of our emotions.

Once we have hashed out our feelings with an objective person, we may then calm down a little and see things from a new perspective. For me, I realized that my angry feelings were a result of me not honoring my own boundaries - saying yes too many times when I meant no - and not speaking up when I really wanted to. The good thing about full moons is that they always make us aware of our triggers, and if we are open and willing to work through them, we usually fair better the next time around.

To avoid continued episodes of needless emotional turmoil (and possibly hurting loved ones too) try keeping a journal for a few months and write down the patterns you notice about yourself - those issues that keep resurfacing... again and again. It's likely this will take some time and patience, but it will be well worth your effort - as anything is that works to heal the most important thing in your life - YOU.

We all have old, buried wounds, traumas, and unconscious fears that keep us from living life fully. Scorpio reminds us not to run from these hurtful things, but to lean in to them; to see what they can teach us. Because, as Chiron shows us in our charts, behind ever hurt healed is a gift revealed. So, whether it a lunar eclipse full moon or just a full moon, why not take them both seriously? As they both are potent times to calm our inner beasts and honor our truest needs.
